Kerala Government Crumbling?

Posted by: kevinbabu on: July 4, 2009

well  as all the dramas are performing lively on stage, the only question is that ” Is Kerala Government Crumbling..?? “

The lok-sabha election results totally kicked the Kerala government..!! Kannur District which was considered as their own playground….. Sad to say that UDF won in that very playground…!

Well actually what will be the reason for all these..?? Well i do know that the discussions have already started… But did LDF government fail due to Achuthanathan’s behavior..>?? Or did they fail due to the Lavlin Issues..???

Well what ever it may be .. lets go to the past… the days and weeks before the elections….!!

The ruling party was very confident that they will win and even they announced that they will have 17 or 18 seats… and this announcement was reported by the indiavision reporters..!!! Even at this high end confidence why couldn’t they  make to a 2 digit result..??? hmm…

Even they strongly believed that the alliance with the PDP will help them win..!! But still..!!!

And now all after the elections when the meeting is called CPI and the PDP members are standing behind the boundaries…!!! And it is being reported the party meeting goes maximum upto 10mins…!! So will these all be the end of the CPI future..???

If we take the situations inside the government all the ministers except 3 of them were against the chief minister..!! So actually according to latest status the kerala government is similar to a place build of cards…!!!

After all these issues the government is stilling crawling the Educational problems with the Managements and thus trying to spoil the future of the generation yet again..!!!! And also the dream project “Dubai City”… will it come to kerala if the government is given an time period of 10 – 20 years consecutively….??????

So is the kerala government crumbling due its own acts… or due its relationships… or due to the one and only chief minister….?????

And can the government retain its glamourous status of the early days….??????

Bloggers For Shashi Tharoor – Campaign

Posted by: kevinbabu on: March 25, 2009

Shashi Tharoor, born on 9 March 1956 is an Indian diplomat and writer who has been known mostly for his having worked as an Indian diplomat at the United Nations. In 2006, he was the official candidate of India for the office of United Nations Secretary-General, and came second out of seven official candidates in the race. Tharoor served as the UN Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information between June 2002 and February 2007, during the term of Secretary-General Kofi Annan. He is an author, journalist, and fellow of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy.
Tharoor was recently declared as the Indian National Congress candidate of the Trivandrum constituency in Kerala for the General Elections in 2009.

Why should you support him?

  • He has a Ph.D, two masters degree and is a graduate from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. A rare breed of educated politicians.
  • Tharoor’s was an exceptional UN career, rising as he did from the P-2 level to the highest possible rank of Under-Secretary-General in a mere 23 years.
  • He has a reputation in the UN for being a reformer by action. Something Indian politics really need at this hour.
  • Shashi Tharoor’s resume and work experience is way better than other candidates in almost all of Kerala.

Silly Allegations against Shashi Tharoor

  • He does not have an address in Kerala. (Dont worry folks, we will buy him a house here)
  • He insulted the National Anthem By placing his hand on his heart (American Style). I think of it as passionate way of respecting the national anthem.

What can you do to support him?

You can blog about Shashi Tharoor and tell people the best reasons to vote for him. You can compare him with other candidates in the constituency. Put up support badges in your blog. Share information about Tharoor on social media websites.

Aspirations – aspire, align, achieve

Aspirations 2020 is a unique platform introduced by Infosys as part of its Campus Connect initiative to bring the best of engineering talent from across India together to interact, enjoy and learn from each other while winning a few accolades and fame in the bargain.

Engineering students from 156 Campus Connect colleges across 14 different Zones will take up the Aspirations 2020 challenge with great zeal.

Hmm, Aspirations – may be the dream project of Infosys to get the campuses connected with technology after the flop of their previous dream project Campus Connect.  I said campus connect was a flop because after the roadshow that they have done we students haven’t seen them yet in our campus to get us connected.. and now they came up something else… Aspirations - an technical colloquium intended for the campuses all over India.

Now let me come to the err. Well the competition was given great publicity and moreover the students were very excited to participate in an event that was conducted by one of the Big Daddy in the Software Industry.. yeah really a very rare chance to get..!!

Many of the students got registered and finally the day of the teaser round came. Many students tried to login but they couldn’t because the site was not showing up. Another thing is that many students those have registered didn’t receive the username and password to login… (very bad..!!). The very next thing is about an event ” Quiz ” – they conducted the quiz online and the funniest thing is that almost all the students have done the quiz by Googling…. so what is the purpose with the event Quiz..???

” Programming ” was their must-do event. But still it was a big crap because students those doesn’t know to code got it done by others skilled in it… so any deal for that event too..???????

Next, this is the very big bullz-eye which made me angry to a great extent..!! well many students did register and did participate in the event.. After the teaser round the list of the selected students were published…. And that list had the names of the students even who hadn’t even seen the aspirations competition platform but they  registered for it…. !!!! Is this fair..??? Should this happen..??? If students who haven’t participated in the competition were given more consideration why should have they conducted these type of big crap..???

Should the Infosys mess up with their own event..???? What the heck are they trying to show or prove..??? Trying to prove that they are just a bunch of techie show offs..????

If the same event was conducted by some students or student organizations I think it would be much and much more better than the Big Daddy’s big mess…!!!

A gift that a frnd can ever give…!!

Posted by: kevinbabu on: March 4, 2009

Well all of us have a lots of friends. Some are dear, some others are very dear and some others are more than that to us. Whatever close relations we have with each other its natural among friends to give gifts to each other…

In my case I too do have a lots of friends. Many are dear, some other very dear and it goes on like the description above. Well I do also get many gifts and I do give gifts to them (occassionally only.. :P … Can’t say like that because we usually go for outing and do treats than giving gifts..!! :D :-P  ). What ever it be.. Today I like to share about a gift that we (mainly I) wont ever imagine that we would get.

Well I think u guys are thinking to a large extent and hoping a very priceless gift..!! Well, yeah its a very priceless gift..!! :)  [ Its very valuable to me and I haven't yet lost it..!! ]. ;)

The gift is a poem...  ….a poem on the friendship… a poem on the relation between my friend and me…!! Well the poem is written by a girl…:D:P;)….

and the interesting fact is that I got this poem on the 24th day of my first year class in my very own Engineering College..!!!!

Well I have very great intention to upload the poem. But since my friend said that the poem is only dedicated to me and she doesn’t want to showcase the poem to the outside world… :( ( because she says that the poem belongs only to me and so there is no need of others reading it..!! :) ).. .Nice aahhh..

I strongly believe that there will no guy in my knowledge that has got a variety and special gift like this from a friend..!! And I also pray for each and everyone to get a rememberable gift like this….. ( not a peom… may be some other thing)

and i dedicate this quote to the very special friend of mine…

“Even though we’ve changed and we’re all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we’ll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we’re not all still friends.”

Whatever happens Drum gets all the beating

“Strike”, its a common term used or heard in almost all engineering colleges [especially in Govt. Engineering Colleges..] Today  I am gonna post a strike story which happened in an engineering college in Central Travancore few days before..!!

Everything started with a fight between seniors and junior.. I said seniors and “junior”  because the fight was between complete third year senior batch in one side and a single junior class in the other side..!! So as you can imagine the ball is in the seniors field..!! hehehe..

The fight began and the as usual the staff interrupted it..!!! (Doesn’t these guys have any other job..?? ) You guys may think why I said so.. Because the all whole gang hit only 3 students of the junior class… and moreover these guys were getting this treatment from the initial stage itself..! Almost all the senior batch in the college (3rd years) have already given them the treatment..! hihihi…

Sorry I travelled away from the matter.. Well the teachers interrupted the fight and the team members were called upon for a talk..  Even that time these MF* (sorry to use this..!! ) 3 juniors didn’t show any respect to the teachers ho tried to solve the problem.. They talked very rough to them and even raised their hand against them and even used bad words..!!

Finally when the action came from the council, the 3rd year team got suspension and extra bonus features.. (They need to call their parents, need to pay a fine of Rs.500 each…. Nice way to make money for the college..) and the away team (juniors), they just need to pay  Rs. 500 and need to call their parents…. No bonus features for them..!! The action was taken without any investigation or nothing..!!

So is the fight or the misbehavior against the staff a serious offense..??? Of-course  for me both are serious offense but the misbehavior is far more serious..!! But it was just the reverse for the management..!!!  They didn’t see any mistake in that..!!

Thats not fair..!! There can’t be two dishes in a marriage.. one for local invitations and one for VIPs..!! So the students planned to protest against this…!!! The strike started..!! Bad for the initiators.. It was the first strike and so none had any idea..!! The strike started and no responses were there from the staff / management..!! Every single teacher was watching and enjoying the strike as if they were watching a comedy film.!! All the 3rd year students united and took part in the strike..!!  Nothing special for day one of the strike.. Everyone packed up and waited next day to knew the response of the management..!!

No responses from the management side..!! The students continued the show..!! Finally everyone became serious… Well a nice and cunning teacher took this opportunity and called the home of each student of her class and told that ” your child is taking part in the strike..!! He is not allowing the classes to go on..blah blah..! ” Unfortunate for the teacher..! When called a parent and said the same dialogue the parent’s response was like this “Is it..! Oh my god.. But miss, my boy haven’t gone to college today..! He is here at home since he is suffering from fever..! “….. hahahaha.. What to say, the teacher disconnected the phone at a glance..!!!

Well by the end of the second day, one the staff used some bad word against the students..!! Is that the way they should behave..??? Well instead of calling the PTA members and calling a discussion between the students, the teachers didn’t take a single step..!! Nice way t o manage such situations..!! Well by the end of the second day, the identity cards was collected by the staff saying that “those who wish to participate in the strike should give their id cards.. ” The management thought that the students will skip the strike, but the reverse happened…  everyone gave away their tags.. and the show of the second day was over..!

The next day bloomed up..! Well the day had a speciality..! It was the series exam day..! Since the problem wasn’t yet solved the whole 3rd year students (except 6 chickens ) bunked the exam… and everything ended up with the suspension of the complete 3rd years and still no action against the juniors..!! Even after this the parents are called to come to college for the PTA meeting..!!

Is this the way to solve the problem..?? Well the teachers / management could have solved this problem by taking the right actions..!! And while ringing up the home the same teacher which i specified above said same blah blah blahs and they also said that your son / daughter needn’t to take part in the strike.. they would have given them the whole protection and all..!!

Lemme ask.. how long can these a**h***s give the protection..?? for the complete time period until this students get graduated..???  Huh… well the PTA meeting is next day.. well the 3rd warriors were enjoying a week of no classes..!!! Hoping that the management will at-least now show some  guts and take the necessary action..!! Well whom are they afraid of taking the actions..?? Why are they treating students separately..??

The best trip I ever had……..!!!

Posted by: kevinbabu on: January 21, 2009

Everyone has travelled and is traveling here and there and may also have many situations to remember too….!! Well I had one too..!! But I won’t ever and never forget this because even if I got tried ever than before the trip was really interesting and funny…….!!

Well it all started with my flaming desire  to go to IIM Kozhikode  for an event name BARCAMP 4 ..!! Hahaha.. whose gonna miss a chance if they get one….!! So I didn’t want to miss that because in my life may be I wont get another chance to visit IIM Kozhikode….. So I decided to go there even by kicking out my classes…!! But for luck the program was on Saturday… And so my parents had no excuses to prevent me going there… Well I got prepared.. but there was a major problem…!! ” There is no-one to give me a company…! “

I became very desperate and rang up everyone whether to know anyone is going.. All my friends where squeezed up with many programs and so those who told that they will be coming skipped the program.. and now its me on my own..!! But I never loss my hope..!! One day I pinged Anand Chettan and requested him to come with me….!! Well he had a presentation too @ IIM for the event, but he was planning to skip it due to fever. But due to my greates desire I think, Anand Chettan got somewhat fine so that he could stand up walk and so on..!! Thanx God..!!

Finally it was on the day to travel Anand Chettan confirmed that he will be coming with me..!! hurray….!!!! And here is how the story really starts…!!

” I got into a bus directly going to Kozhikode from my place itself. I had my brother with me too.. He was going to his province…!! Well at that moment he said that if no stay is arranged tell my mates to get into this bus and we all can stay @ his hime at Kozhikode.. Hearing this great news (well it was a great blessing for me and my fellow mates because we need not to spend money on stay and even food… moreover he said that he shall arrange vehicles so that we could go to IIM…)I called Anand Chettan.. But every plan went down…!! He said that we had some other guys at Aluva and they will be waiting to get in the same train that we get in..!! And so what.. dropped the plan… (because if I couldn’t stay with a person who got out for me even though he is sick then why should have I convinced him to come with me..??? )….!!  Well after 5mins I got down @ Vytilla I met Anand Chettan….. and got an exciting news…!! The persons who were waiting for us got other means of transport and so they won’t be coming with us…..!! (Best time to change their minds….!! )…

Well since I was very focussed and Anand Chettan was even ready to stand my side we decided to go by train (Maveli Express)…. But before that we went to the K.S.R.T.C bus stand to know whether there were buses to Kozhikode because we knew that the train will be tightly packed and since there and many waiting lists we should use the general compartment….!!!! Since luck was with us we didn’t get any bus…. and finally decided to go by train..!! Seeing the queue infront of the ticket counter m eyes bulged out…. but we managed to get train tickets…!! After a long time of waiting the train finally arrived….!!  We planned to converting the ticket but since there was no seats available we were prompted to use the general compartment…….!! Wallah… We managed to get in and we were over-joyed…!! Well our hearts jumped only upto Aluva Jn. When we reached there we were poped out of the compartment due to rush in a LIFO manner…. Everyone was looking at us and I think that they may have even said that “u guys don’t belong here.. “…..

Well now what to do……!! No way of getting back to home because we created an image that going to IIM was something big thing……!! (Well for us it was a big thing because we aren’t sure whether we would even get a chance to study there in future…!! )… Finally again calling back the Bus Stand we were informed that there is a airbus to Kozhikode via Aluva By-pass within 30mins.. So inorder to catch that we rushed to by-pass in a great hurry using an autorikshaw…!!  Since we were millionaires we even didn’t mind of canceling the train ticket ( because if we to need cancel it we need to return back to our boarding place..!!)… Finally we reached the by-pass and waited for the bus to come..!! Time went on ticking but no sign of the bus..!! Getting really bored and angry…! But Anand Chettan managed to move his time by playing with stones and by moving here and there along the road… and finally i joined him too… but here comes the bus that we waited for…..!! yuppee……. the bus didn’t stop……

And now what….???? We called again the bus station and decided to go to Trichur and fetch a Bus to Kozhikode from there…..!! Well the bus came and we didn’t get that too……!! Now to run our time and to reach our destination we planned to take a lift…!! We started waving our hands… but no use….!! finally a tourist bus showed some kindness…!!! But they made us pay for the kindness by paying hiked bus fare…….. Since the bus was only upto Trichur and was following another route from there we asked them to drop us @ Trichur..!! Well time for some relaxation…!! After 2 hours they dropped us saying that we will get bus from here….!! (How kind of them na…???)… Well not really……!! Well to know if there is a bus soon we went to a auto-driver…!! and taking our remaining breath away he said that no buses will stop here….!! we need to travel a lot more i.e Rs. 75 (This is the discounted rate since the driver was going in our same route itself..!! and  If we get that stupid idiots we don’t know what we would do…!! )… Finally reaching the bus station we got bus and reached our destination safe and sound….!!

This is the story part  from boarding to destination only… and now comes the return…..!!

After the program was over we decided to return back home that day itself…!! But as we got out we came to know that due some function of the muslims there, no buses will be available and even if there are buses it will take about 2 to 4 hours to reach the Kozhikode bus stand which actually needs 30mins… Well we reached our stay place very hardly and Anand Chettan since tired he wished to go back next day….!! But here too I was the one having the desire to go back…..!! Our friends @ Kozhikode tried their best to get help to get  us to town… but no use… But this time too my side won..(Well I am very thankful to our friends @ Kozhikode and moreover  Anand Chettan  for again staying with me..!!)

Well we decided to go by their bikes.. The starting was fun..!! As soon as we started the bike me and the guy in the bike fell down..!! ( My mistake….. My leg collided with his leg..).. .Well finally they dropped us @ bus stand travelling 25kms.. ( I am very thankful to them for doing all the helps……!!).. Well after sometime waiting the bus came.. But this time we didn’t miss the bus…!!

Anand Chettan managed to get a seat and me didn’t get one..! Well since we both were very tired i told Anand Chettan to sit on ma lap (He won’t hold me…!!! )… well Anand sat for sometime, but couldn’t sit for long…!! Well then we came in a deal that we shall exchange the seat at some time intervals… Well since my idea I was the first to be seated….!! Well enjoying the seat I fell asleep… But it didn’t last for long…!! ( Time to exchange the seat…!! )… Well Anand Chettan fell asleep as soon as he just sat there….!! Well since I was very much soaked out, I managed to sit down on the stairs of the bus… and was gonna enjoy my relaxation…!! But suddenly our bus just gave a feather touch to a traveller in front of us and we were @ middle of the way…..!!

Feeling sleepy, angry with the crash and with me, Anand Chettan became very reckless….!! Well what could I say..?? Still Anand Chettan didn’t say a single word to me….!! He still stood with me….!! (Thanx buddy…..!!!!! I love u very much…..!!!)….. Well after an hour another bus showed up and we managed to get into that and finally reached our destination..!! ( Home sweet home … —- > for Anand Chettan…. I was forced to go to college to some major stuffs…..!! )……

Well this was the best trip I ever had….!! Moreover luck was with us from the beginning itself…!! Oh God, don’t ever give me another such trip to remember…. this one is more than enough…!!

Has ladies lost their golden virtues…????

Posted by: kevinbabu on: January 10, 2009

NB: This post has nothing to mock down the whole women society. The examples sketched in this post is completely drawn from true life happenings.

Well for many weeks i was totally blanked what to write in my blog because i was totally out of ideas.. But for somedays i was totally disturbed with the poor and out of standard behavior  of the females in the society.. Well i don’t complaint the whole women community.. But as we all know when a person in a community commits something bad the whole burden will be on the shoulders of the community too…. So by this post I am not trying to mock the whole women community but trying to bring something to their attention… Moreover I am not a chauvinist too…!!!

In India, especially in Kerala women are considered as mother, devi( Female God) etc because of the pain they suffer to build up the next generation, all the sacrifices they make in their life and mainly due to their moral virtues… They were able to change a person and they were considered as the light of the family…!! So because of this I think many women protection communities came up for their protection and even government gave more importance to women in social stuffs… They were given more preferences and many other facilities…

Well lemme ask, are the ladies now deserved to be respected (Especially those in Kerala)…???? Do they deserve anything from the society..??? You think what the bull shit I am writing well, I wold like to state my point through some incidents that happened in Kerala…!!!!

The most cracking shit incident that I would like to state is a news that was there in a newspaper very recently.. The news was like this : “Lady given complaint against hubby for misbehaving in kitchen.”

Huh….. I would like to uncover the complete story… The story is like this : “One day the lady was cooking. Husband was pretty a funny type guy. He came to the kitchen a gave a hot kiss to his wife showing his love towards her… And from now the problem starts…!! Well while a small funny chit-chat conversation between the couples the husband came and gave a slap to his wife’s butt…. She didn’t like it… But as playing around funny the husband gave 2 more… The lady got angry and gave a complaint against him….!!! “

What a heck..!! Well if a husband cannot touch his own wife’s body them who else would he touch..????? And moreover the women protection cell as even charged against this poor guy for misbehaving in the kitchen……!!!

Well I am not yet finished…. I have another example too… Well this is not a news reported anywhere…!! This is an incident which I came to witness..!!

The incident is : ” A lady is pregnant and is going to deliver a child…. Happy news rite..?? But there is one problem.. The lady wants to give birth to the child but she don’t want to deliver because she don’t want to suffer the delivery pain..!!! She is asking the doctor to make the delivery in some other painless way…!! Then the doctor said we shall do the operation..!!! Hmmm…. Well the lady rejected it too.. She doesn’t want operation…. She says that it would affect the beauty of her body structure…!!! “

Very nice incident na..???? Huh.. why should she want to be a mother if she cannot even suffer the pain of giving birth to her own blood..?????

Well I am not yet finished… I have many things to state… But since time matters for me, I am going to state 2 or 3 examples more and going to end this post..!!

Well next incident I would like to state is another one which happened near my relative’s home. Well here is the incident..!! ” A guy married a girl (his love)… Well after marriage the main dream of the girl is to become a mother…!!  Well after few months the lady got pregnant…!! Happy news for the family..!! Well here is how the lady responded to it..!! ” Oh god… how the hell the crap got  up here..??? I don’t want to carry this piece of flesh…!! Moreover I don’t want to carry it even in future too…!! I don’t want anything to ruin my happiness….!! I want to enjoy my life in all means and I don’t want anything to ruin it…!! So please help me to get rid of it…!! Else I would do it by myself..!! “…. Poor family…. they tried to make the girl understand… but every attempt failed….!! Finally the girl herself got rid of the gift….!! Well according to family the girl just wants to go to films, eat food, go to parties and mainly enjoy sexual life… thats all…!! “

Huh….. Well just one more example… and i am stopping this…. Because I am getting very angry too…. I also hope all the guys reading this will to have the same feeling…….!!!

My last example….!!!! Almost everyone has heard of Ernakulam… The people living here has the fastest and busiest life than the others….!! Well in this example i am going to point out the dressing and behaving styles of ladies….!!

I most often go to Ernakulam. Since many big budget schools hail there  many good and sexy looking girls will be here and there..!!!! One day I came to go to a club for a party in Ernakulam…. Well since a club party, wines and hot stuffs were everywhere and all of them were drinking and dancing including young girls…!! The funniest thing is that a girl is crying…!! The reason for which she is crying is that she was the only girl who wore a skirt which had a length up to her kness and all others were wearing micros and very short tops (short means very short exposing their chest and belly…!! And the vulgar shit was that the tops were too tight even for them to breathe….!!).. Very nice problem to cry for…!! Also after this all, it was time for the real party.. Everyone came to dance floor…..!!! Time to rock na…!! Yeah it was really a time to rock…..!!! All the girls who came there was totally out of mind and was falling on men and was behaving very rubbish…!!

Really great enjoyment for guys..!!! Hehehehe…..!!! If the girls goes this way would any guy in Kerala will get a lady who is a vrigin in future….??????? Can the parents allow their children go alone anywhere….>????? Moreover if these are happening the person responsible surely will the person’s mother…..!!!!!

The last part of the last example…!!! Well as I said i do often go to Ernakulam… Yet another coolest scene I would like to describe is that, we could see grandmas and mothers wearing tight t-shirts and sleeveless dresses with cooling glasses wandering here and there as society ladies….!!! Huh… nice to hear…!! I think this dressing styles of older ladies really support our tradition…!! Seeing all these how would the young/future generation wear dresses in the right way..????

Well I had more to write…. but I think this will be enough for the time-being…!! Well so where are the virtues that were praised about women gone….???? What are these ladies trying to prove..??? Is this because there are women protection cell to take action if men raises his voice against them……???? Or is this because they think they can do anything because law takes their word directly without any verifications……..???? What has happened…..??? What is the main reason for this occurrences…..??? Has the women lost all their virtues…..?????

‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ the magical rags-to-riches story of a Mumbai slum dweller, has been nominated in the Best Picture category by the Producers Guild of America.

Most of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) nominees tend to get into the high five for the prestigious Oscar awards.

In their 19-year history, the PGA awards have foreseen 12 of Oscar’s eventual best-picture winners, including last year’s winner ‘No Country for Old Men.’

The winner will be announced on January 24, the ‘Los Angeles Times’ reported.

The PGA, however, snubbed some of the frontrunners like ‘Doubt,’ ‘Gran Torino,’ ‘The Reader,’ ‘Revolutionary Road’ and ‘The Wrestler’ this year.

‘Slumdog’ will compete with others like Brad Pitt starrer ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ Batman film ‘Dark Knight,” ‘Frost/Nixon,’ and political drama ‘Milk’ in the Best Picture category.

Directed by British filmmaker Danny Boyle ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ which bagged a lot of awards and nominations has become this year’s Cinderella story.

The film has earned four Golden Globe nominations with Indian music director A R Rahman being nominated for Best Original Music Score. It was also nominated for Best Picture-Drama, Best Director for Boyle and Best Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy.

It has also won two annual Satellite Awards for Best Picture-Drama and Best Director.

The film has already bagged two awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association – Best Director for Boyle and Best Music for Rahman.

Based on Indian author Vikas Swarup’s novel ‘Q and A’ and starring Indian actors Anil Kapoor and Irrfan Khan, the film was shot at various locations in Mumbai.

Say YES/ NO to inter-religious marriage..??

Posted by: kevinbabu on: December 27, 2008

Well, marriage is a very important thing in everyone’s life. The most toughest part is to choose the best partner for their entire life…. According to Indian culture the girls/boys would say that their parents will choose for them… Yeah… every parents do choose only the best for their children…!!  But the changes have started striking all around…!!

An inter-faith marriage is a union in which the two spouses follow different religious traditions. This can take many forms. For example, the partners may be:

1. A member of a specific religion and a follower of an non-theistic ethical system (e.g. Judaism and Humanism).

2. From two religions that are totally different – as in one Western and one Eastern faith (e.g. Christianity and Taoism).

3. From two religions that have some points of similarity – as in two Abrahamic religions. These are religions “of the Book” which share Abraham as a Patriarch. (e.g. Christianity and Islam).

4. From different major divisions within the same religion (e.g. Roman Catholicism and Protestantism).

5. From different wings within the same religion (e.g. one Evangelical and one liberal or mainline Christian)

6. From different traditions within the same wing of the same religion (e.g. two conservative denominations: Assemblies of God and Southern Baptist.

All marriages and other lifetime partnerships are mixed relationships! Most involve persons of two genders: one man and one woman. Sometimes the two spouses are of different religions, nationalities, races, ethnic groups, economic levels, etc. The more significant differences in background that a couple has, the greater are the challenges that need to be resolved before and during marriage. Sometimes their efforts to reach a consensus can draw the couple closer together. With other couples, their differences will drive them apart.

With the changing of times, we are getting more and more open and accepting our fellow human beings precisely on their personal qualities. It’s not any more a Hindu or a Muslim or a White or a Black so to say… well to some extent.

Inter-religious and Inter-racial marriages are getting equally acceptable and common. However, to be a success, any marriage requires two people who are respecting, responsible, honest and sincere. When two people meet in matrimony, they should respect each other, especially so if it’s an inter-religion marriage. It is very important to remember that all the religions teach the same basic goodness…….if we get through the present time-line we can see the graph of inter-religious marriages rising up…… Why is this happening so..???

Well, when i asked a couple they said, “we married each other because they were fond of each other…. moreover even if their parents choose a partner for them it will take time to know each other completely… but in our case we are known to each other for the past few years……!! “

Well that’s true… it will surely take sometime to understand each other… But isn’t that the thrill of marriage…??? But in the other hand to marry a person whom we know well each other is better than ever…..!! I think that’s why the inter-religious marriages rise up daily…!!

Even if the parents protest against the marriage the couples would surely get married because they do earn to a great extent…!! But the main question is that ” Is their life successful..?? “…. Well there are many successful married couples….. ” Dimple and Anupam” , “SRK and Gauri” and many others in our local areas too…. may be many among  our family too…  But aren’t failures too….?????

Well now a days many support inter-religious marriages… When it comes to these types of marriages another main question showing up is that ” Which religion would their children follow…?? “… There is a constant hustle in the parents that the child follows his/her religion. Isn’t it more important that a child becomes a good human being? This can be taught to him by adopting the goodness of both the religions. Here, it’s very important for parents not to be selfish. We should focus on teaching the child good values which everyone would agree is the basis of every single religion. There have been instances, when adults abandon the religion given to them by their parents and adopt some other religion that they are convinced is better. I think we should let our children decide what religion they would like to adopt when they are capable of deciding for themselves.

Another main problem was the process of conversion from one religion to another…..Lemme ask one-thing…..  ” Is life meant for religion or religion meant for life…??? “

Well now a days, many religious communities support inter-religious marriages even without conversion…. For example, inter-religious marriages do take place at Churches if the groom is a christian…. The best example is the marriage of the Malayalam cine star Jagathy’s daughter…..!!

Well in my personal view I do support inter-religion marriage because I will be marrying the person whom I know well in all aspects and the other knows me well in all aspects…..!!.. Moreover my view  has always been that the question of religion is often side-tracked in a marriage. Marriage is not about religion. There are bigger problems to marriage than religion. I am talking about marriage of two people who are really in love with a very practical outlook towards life. So if we dare to live together shouldn’t our parents support us…>???? Why should they protest….???? I think this quote will surely suit for the protesting parents… “…unity within diversity adds a richness and beauty to marriage and to life.” Rev. Tom Chulak, Unitarian-Universalist minister.

On other-hand, it is loyal and best to marry a partner which our parents select….. Because there would be no split in the relationships….. But in most cases these relations do come and bind together later even if a split occurs….!!

So is it good to marry a girl of our like (main from other religion) and take the risks….. or is it better to marry a partner which our parents select.>>???? What should we say…???  Yes/ No…>????
